Chapter 1

Ginger was over by the feed bucket, nuzzling his nose in the chaff. Darkie saw him and wondered what he was doing.                                                         

Darkie: “Ging! What are you doing?”

Ginger:”I’ve dropped my horse nut in here and I can’t find it.”

Darkie:”Why don’t you just go and get another one?”

Ginger:”I want this one”

Darkie:”But surely, whats so special about that n…..”

Darkie was cut short by Smokie, Who came charging over from the stable.

Smokie:”puff..Samantha has..puff..had another foal..puff..come see!”

Ginger, Darkie and Smokie ran over to the stables where Samantha was lying with a light gold foal lying at her feet.

Ginger:”Cool.”

Darkie:”What have you decided to call her?”

Samantha:”Honey. Its a girl.”

Smokie:”Honeys a nice name. Suits her colour.”

Ginger:”Hey wheres Blaze?”

Smokie:”Having his hooves picked.”

Samantha:”Oh.What a shame.”

Ginger:”Sam, whose the father?”

Samantha:”Erm…….”

Smokie:”Samantha?”

Samantha:”Err…I don’t know.”

Chapter 2

Darkie:”I’m not the father.”

Smokie:”Neither am I. I’m not the right colour.”

Darkie:”Its either Ginger or Blaze.”

Ginger:”What?”

Darkie:”Honey’s father, Ginger.”

Ginger:”Ermm.. I don’t understand. Isn’t Blaze the Daddy?”

Smokie:”I dunno.Maybe.”

Ginger:”I’m going to retrieve my horse nut.”

Ginger was walking over to the feed bucket, thinking about Samantha’s foal. Was he the Daddy? When he finally got over to the feed bucket, it was empty. Ginger vigourously looked around the field, for his owner. But instead, he saw Blaze, with his mouth chomping. Blaze had stolen his food! Ginger galloped after Blaze, planning to shock him. But Blaze heard Ginger’s hooves thumping along the ground, and he took off into a fast gallop. Blaze was bigger than Ginger, and his stride was longer, so he easily kept ahead of him. But being a heavy Clydesdale, Blaze didn’t have much stamina, and he had to slow down into a canter. Like that, the stocky Palomino stallion caght up with him.

Ginger:”Why have you eaten my feed?”

Blaze:”I was staving.”

Ginger:”You should’ve eaten out of your owm feed bucket!”

Blaze:”Mine was empty!”

Ginger:”Huff.. Anyway, Sam has had a foal. Are you the father?

Blaze:”No.”

Ginger:”Oh.”

Blaze:”But Ging, you’re the father. Don’t you remember?”

Ginger:”No.”

Blaze:”Phwarr. I give up on you.”

Ginger:”I dont really care.”

Ginger stomped away, fuming with temper.

Chapter 3

Ginger walked over to the hay pile to grab a bite to eat. He sniffed the hay to make sure it was fresh. But hay wasn’t the only thing he could smell. he could smell smoke. Fire smoke. Ginger looked around to see flames pouring out of the stable, Samantha and Honey! Ginger galloped at full pace over to the burning stable.

Ginger:”Samantha! Are you in there?”

Samantha:”Yes! So is Smokie,Darkie and Honey!”

Ginger:”Can you get out?”

Samantha:”Me and the boys can, but Honey can’t. I just can’t leave her.

Ginger:”Why can’t Honey come out?”

Samantha:”Some of the roof fell and blocked the exit.”

Ginger:”That means the roof is loose! You need to get out of the building Quick!”

Smokie and Darkie suddenly leapt out of the flames, shaking the ash out of their manes. Samantha wouldn’t come out. Ginger tried to kick the rubble out of the doorway. It worked well and soon he had cleared the rubble away.

Ginger:”Sam! There is nothing blocking the way anymore! Get out now!”

It took a while for anyone to appear, but the first visible thing was one of Honey’s small, chocolate covered hooves. The rest of her body appeared and Samantha’s face came out to. She was helping Honey walk. Honey fell to the ground, leaning her head against the stable wall. Samantha came out, her spotty coat covered with ash. Suddenly, the wall that Honey was leaning on caught fire, burning the young foals back. She scrabbled desperatley at the dusty ground, but she just wasn’t strong enough to stand up. The flames were getting hotter by the minute. Ginger ran over to her, desparatley trying to help her stand up. But it wasn’t working. The poor foal was exhausted from trying to get up, and she just had no strength left. The fire blasted forward, hitting Ginger in the face. He fell back and hit the ground with a heavy thud. The flames spread outwards, trapping Honey in  a ring of heat.

Samantha:”Honey! Get out of there!”

But it was to late. The stable roof collapsed, rublle and debirs flying everywhere. All the horses could do now was to just watch the newborn foal perish and die.

This week was different though. A few weeks back, I brought her a baby Lion (Schleich of course, not real!) who she called Leo. And this week, she brought me a Clydesdale foal! (Schleich) And here she is.

This is Syrup, the beautiful Clydesdale foal.
